"An Eventful Spring"

While we can only hope that it will bring a quick end to April showers, May is already flowering around here with new team members, expanding service offerings and exciting events.

Although it's only been a few months since we publicly introduced our Brand Well philosophy, creating and cultivating healthy, responsible brands has always been in our DNA. The concept of Brand Well is rooted in a commitment to fostering community through education and support, not to mention responsible branding.

With that in mind, we'd like to announce a few events in May that we hope will give us a chance to connect and share ideas with our business community.

On Thursday, May 15, our resident e-marketing expert Howard Hale will lead a Search Engine Optimization and Online Marketing educational workshop. The workshop is designed to help people increase search engine rankings and discover ways to drive traffic to their websites.

Two weeks later, on June 5, we'll be hosting our annual Open House to celebrate our clients, partners and friends. This afternoon event will be a chance to catch up, get acquainted and just hang out and enjoy the music and refreshments. We are looking forward to talking about things to come, including our Green Esteem program designed to help people explore and adopt eco-friendly business ideas.

Washington State Employees Credit Union (WSECU) online demo

It all started in 1957 with a loan for car tires. Since then, this successful not-for-profit financial cooperative has grown to offer Washington state employees the largest full-service branch network of any credit union in the state.

From whitewalls to wireless banking, WSECU has always been committed to providing their members with added value, particularly in the form of convenience. That's why they didn't stop at providing printed user guides to help members install and operate their new Mobile Finance Manager (MFM) online banking program. Instead, WSECU approached Eben Design to create an engaging and easy-to-use online demo.

From storyboard and script to Flash design and animation, we built the entire demo from scratch. In order to fully engage users, we included interactive content, a professional voiceover and a navigation bar that lets members get right to the information they need.

The result is a fully animated and easily accessible demo that not only helps users access their accounts more easily, but also highlights the full potential of online demonstrations as a means of enhance any product or service. Best of all, this is one user guide that is virtually impossible to lose.

Working with Ascendi founder and principal David Vittoria on an entirely new brand for his company was like opening a freshly shaken can of positive energy. That's an excellent quality for a corporate trainer and coach with a visionary, strengths-focused approach to driving organizational revitalization through honest communication and radical leadership.

Our challenge was to focus that energy and vision into a meaningful position statement / tagline that would intrigue Ascendi's target audience in a marketplace teeming with 'visionaries'.

It became clear through our Brand Discovery process that there were really two sides to Ascendi's competitive advantage. First, they provide an enlightened forum in which team members can engage creatively, understand one another and rise above their roadblocks. Even more unique, however, is the way Ascendi's commitment to ongoing support helps organizations continue to grow beyond the confines of habitual behavior by focusing on what's right with people.

This balance influenced our decision to go with what we like to call the "two-pronged" tagline approach. The juxtaposition of two statements can be a powerful option, especially when the ideas are simple, authentic and complementary. It helps when the two "prongs" are anchored by a unifying association that implies a third brand attribute. In Ascendi's case, it points to their culture of going 'above and beyond' what is being offered by others in the training and coaching world.

Creative Brief
Ascendi

Miami-based Ascendi delivers strengths-based training and coaching solutions that promote healthy, productive work habits in organizations nationwide. To reflect their desire to foster and facilitate positive change, we designed a clean, modern and meaningful logo to serve as a visual representation of Ascendi's core values. A rich blue-green base color was selected for its common association with trust, wisdom, truth and power. Uppercase letters with rounded edges signify strength and confidence as well as friendliness and approachability. The "S" rises slightly above the other characters in gentle curves, representing the vertical path of positive progress and dynamic change. The soft, flowing "S" was also intended to invoke Ascendi's new position statement: Rise Above. Grow Beyond.

We developed a sophisticated, Flash-animated website with an earthy color scheme that reflects the genuine, committed roots of Ascendi. The use of symbolic, nature-inspired images adds depth to Ascendi's visual brand as a positive, strengths-oriented company. Images of confident, contented professionals highlight their expertise in both personal growth and company success.
